What do you want your site to do?
The layout elements include things like a header, text and images. A page no matter how grand it may seem is just a series of boxes. Most will have a header, images and text arranged on the page so that it is eye catching, easy to read and using the pictures as a focal point on the page placed strategically to create an effect.
Learning to design for the web isn't near as difficult as working with flowers or learning how to decorate a cake. There are a lot of tools available and as we teach in the Internet Niche Lab, and with Winning Way Secrets most of them are free or very low cost.
We have a good many sayings at the Lab, one of them being "there is more than one way to skin the cat." Nothing could be more true than in designing for the web. But the truth is all you have to do is establish the line, then you can do anything with it.
There are very few types of web sites four to be exact. Information, eCommerce, Personal and a Portal. There are many types of platforms like static sites, content management systems, blogs, PHP templated sites, membership script systems, and there are many script types that will help the designer do exactly what he or she wants the site to do.
Designing for the Internet has never been easier. It is fast, it is fun and gives the designer a real sense of satisfaction when the work is noticed sometime by people all over the world.
I am inviting you to this world of designing for the Internet. If you have ever wanted some way to express yourself artistically and creatively this just might be the form of art that even you could do.
Once you know what you want your site to do, then it becomes an easy matter of choosing the right piece or pieces of technology you need to accomplish the task.
